CRYPTO INVESTING GUIDE

Crypto Investing Guide

What is worth owning in digital assets, what is noise, and how to hold it without losing it.

What to expect

Seventeen lessons in the order that keeps the decisions cheap: understand what you would be buying, then buy it, then learn to keep it safe. No price predictions, no coin tips, and nothing you are asked to sign up to.

How it actually works

What money is and who controls it, how a blockchain keeps a shared record honest, and why Bitcoin was built with a limit of 21 million coins.

Which coins are worth anything

Why anyone can create a coin in minutes, what the large altcoins are for, and why most coins from every previous cycle are now worth close to nothing.

Buying without being fleeced

A broker's Bitcoin ETF, a crypto exchange, or a payment app — which route suits whom, how to judge an exchange, and what the spread really costs you.

Keeping it

Hot and cold wallets, setting up a hardware wallet properly, the recovery phrase, the scams that take most people's coins, and an inheritance plan.

Who is this guide for?

Anyone who has heard about Bitcoin for years, suspects there is something in it, and would rather not learn the rest through expensive mistakes. It assumes no technical knowledge and no prior holdings.

Will this tell me which coins to buy?

No, and anyone who does should worry you. What it gives you is a way to judge any coin for yourself: what problem it solves, who controls it, how many exist and who holds them. That outlasts any particular list.

How much of my money should be in crypto?

The Passive Investing Guide suggests around five percent for a younger investor and two for an older one — and treats zero as a perfectly reasonable answer. Crypto is the last part of a portfolio, not the first.

Is crypto not just gambling?

A great deal of what is sold in this space is. The guide is fairly blunt about that: most coins go to zero, exchanges have collapsed with customer funds inside them, and falls of seventy-five to eighty percent have happened repeatedly. Whether a small, well-stored holding in the largest assets is gambling is a judgement you are better placed to make once you understand what you would own.

Does it cover tax?

No. Crypto tax differs too much between countries for a general guide to be useful, and getting it wrong is expensive. Ask somebody qualified where you live.
